The hardest problem in gunshot detection isn't hearing a bang — it's not crying wolf at every firework and slammed door. Nevtech runs a two-stage acoustic model: a broad screen finds impulse sounds, then a classifier trained on four classes makes the call.

The classifier explicitly learns what gunfire is not — fireworks, backfires, dropped pallets — instead of alerting on anything loud. Fireworks get their own score precisely because they're the classic false alarm.

Enable audio detection per camera — the parking structure, the perimeter, the lobby. The camera's microphone must be on; nothing else changes about the camera.

Detections below the confidence floor are dropped — checked at the sensor and re-checked at the server, so a misconfigured worker can't flood your alerts with maybes.

Gunshot alerts follow camera access: a site-restricted operator gets that site's alerts, nothing else. Alerts about cameras you can't watch don't exist for you.

We say this on the settings screen and we'll say it here: acoustic detection can false-alarm — fireworks are the classic case — and no microphone hears everything. The alert says "possible gunshot" because that's what it is: a reason for a human to look at the footage right now, one click away. Vendors that promise certainty are selling you a lawsuit.

Detection performance depends on microphone quality, placement, distance, and acoustic environment, and false positives (notably fireworks) and missed detections can occur. Alerts should be verified against footage before action is taken.
